In many courses students are exposed to new ideas and opinions, or differing experiences and personal and emotional connections to various issues. While emotions can be a catalyst for learning, they can also contribute to tensions that may arise between students or in relation to topics. In this interactive workshop, we will discuss strategies that we can use as instructors in anticipation of and in response to challenging moments so that we can maintain the integrity of the learning environment.
